Question...

Postby greenfoxx » Tue Mar 01, 2011 9:00 pm

Due to the super-strength shires, I have decided to change my Belgian's future disciplines to jousting.

So...
What skills do I need for this (as well as bonuses)? Thanks!

I wouldn't discount your Belgians because of the strength of the Shires, my Norikers do well enough when I remember to use myself as a driver and can event them.

Haha:P Then there's also the fact that driving is so stinkin hard to train for. (or so I'm told) So, I'm thinking that since I have over two lines worth of foundies, I will do to seperate lines, each jousting or driving, then mix them. Does that sound alright, or is there some unseen problem in it?

I actually think jousting is more difficult to train for than driving, but that's just me. >.> With jousting, you also have to consider that intelligence is worth -1%. While that isn't a whole lot, having a breed with naturally high intelligence might work against them. Shires do really well in jousting because they have high strength and lower intelligence compared to belgians. I've never tried a belgian in jousting, but logic tells me they might not do so hot. Elise has some AMAZING driving belgians, so don't count them out yet. :)

Anywho, jousting bonuses: (basics)
Ten. Trainer
Longevity
Big Uns
Magically Mighty

Optional:
Fit and Fearless
Grace and Glory

Edit:
Skills I just go with vet, english, sport, and horsemanship.

I personally run mine with those final two, but you might be fine without if you can't fit them.

give 'em a go in all the drafty events! No reason they can only do one or the other. You can breed some up for all the disciplines. They seem to really love vaulting too. Would be fun to run one in vaulting from like age 8 to 22 or whatever, using age restrictions obv.
Jousting is harder for me than driving for sure. But I have been doing driving since I started the game, so that could be why. Belgians can definitely do well in marathon driving(if well trained), where strength and endy are worth the same. For jousting, you might try breeding up some with lower intelligence, by not rolling intell and focusing on strength and spd/endy...

Don't leave an even type youre interested of just cos of lower strenght BC against another breed :3
I dabbled in show breed dressage with andalusians and they got only Amazing intelligence while they competed against lipizzaners which have
intelligence rolling to inco! Still managed to get them a nice sum in winnings and currently my other andy is the highest earner of the breed :)!
I am no longer able to play the game due to real life commitments. I would like to thank all my friends for the past 11 years on VHR. xx

The trick with Jousting seams to be discovering just what speed your breed needs.....I tend to run slightly more speed trained horses.

there are a lot of drafties with phenom strength that can win big in driving and jousting both! Thinking that they can't win over shires would be like saying there was no way an AQH could beat an appendix in game, yet, with the right training it happens all the time. =)

Okay, then I will stick to driving for now. I will be dabbling in other events for sure, but I don't have a ton of time to learn and practice all of them.
