Questions reguarding Standardbreds>>>

Postby WonderWoman » Wed May 11, 2011 2:26 pm

So, recently I have become interested in standardbred. I currently am eventing a standardbred stallion in gymkhana (I know gymkhana is a real event or anything, I just wanted to see how he would do) and I currently have two foals from him. And I was wondering if (112.2)
(Phenomenal) was good for an untouched foal? Also what do standardbreds excel in since I am wanting to event in foals in a real non-random event. I was thinking like harness racing or something. Message me with whatcha know, I am interested in knowing more about the breed and hopefully developing some new skills on eventing standardbreds. The link to my stally and this foals are below, please tell me whatcha think. I am open to suggestions.

I also have some other standardbreds that have been sitting around my ranch and I have been wondering what to do with them. Their links are below:

Ljutomer Trotter

these are the only public breed that doesn't break stride.

I don't deal with SBs, but if I was looking for a eventer... I'd want BC stats (F/S/Ph/Ex) I wouldn't overly worry about intell since it isn't needed in harness racing. 112 in speed is pretty decent I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) I'm not sure what builds do better in harness though. And if I was looking for purebreds, I'd want a horse with non-inbred, clean lines with decent stats for its generation =)

Even slightly lower strength will not hurt (Superb), Medium build seems to be favored for harness racing...112+ in speed like insanity stated is good, but 113-114 is very possible.

I have usually only used a few trainers as I usually train most of my horses myself: Odette, Zimmy, Elise, Draggy

her dam is one of my harness winners, 22 mill. Just noticed that, lol. :D

You can also move them on to HoF type events once they are too old for harness and rack up more money, it's what I tend to do now... and I prefer to event the medium built ones (can manage slim sometimes, but I really like those medium built ones for both harness and HoF).
