Breeding

Postby CWS SEF Stables » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:29 am

I just have a general question related to breeding.

If i have a great filly born, with pretty great stats for the breed. She was born bc, and had stats such as (112.48/ 95.19/ 108.02/ 95.38) for an ACL, which i would say are nice compared to the average for the breed (109.5/ 95ish/ 107/ 95ish) If I decided to roll this filly, and breed her to another stud with roughly the same birth stats, would I get a higher quality foal from them? Or is it just chance?
Also, if u breed a Fantastic Foal, do u have a higher chance of getting another?

Did she end up above BC on strength? Even when you breed two above bc, rolled horses together, the chances of you getting another above bc horse is the same as you breeding two bc rolled horses together. Its basically all chance, unless you have happened to break the bc on that breed, but you would need to recreate it on a novice ranch without breeding bonuses.

no, she herself is not a fantastic foal, nor is she above BC. she just has some pretty nice stats for the breed. All i was wondering is if her, having great birth stats, will pass down to her foals. so her foals will have also great birth stats.

Its all random as far as I know. Well, not so much random as you should get a bc horse, but random as in the better stats.

It's random to a degree. Properly trained, your mare will be capable of having BC foals. I'd personally be more inclined to event train her myself.

mmhmm, if you rolled her properly she could have foals the same... but if you roll a 2 under BC filly properly you can get the same thing... I have found the quality of the foals in that sense to be all about the quality of the rolling, not the natural birth stats of the parents.

When I get nice high BC foals (or over BC foals) they are set aside for eventing (so long as everything else about them is a match to me for the event I want them in)... it's the lower statted ones that I actually use as breeding stock because I know that I can roll them well enough to produce more high statted foals. =)

I would take it as an uh-oh event and just roll her to breed because the only event you would be able to event her in is gym.
