Mood Help!!!!

Postby Hailey Newman » Thu May 27, 2010 6:48 am

So with my track racers, I've recently run into a problem... if I meth three times to get them Very Hyper, I can't cure without taking a turn and then the mood drops back down to Hyper. Please help!

Don't train them on the turn you are going to let them sit...mood drops when you train them, also, you cannot cure either.

Then when do I meth? If I meth three times and don't take a turn so I can cure, the condition drops.

Enter in all events you want to enter, on the last block of 4, do not train, just enter in events. Meth, Meth, Meth, cure. Let sit.

So I do not take a turn to cure?

Nope, as long as you haven't trained you don't need to take a turn to cure.

That's strange though... I have always trained, methed x 3, take a turn, cured and then let sit... the only time it has ever caused a problem for me is if I entered TOO many events (I try to do it every 3 sets of events that I enter to be on the safe side) as long as I do that I have never had a drop when I take the last turn and cure. now if I enter 5 or 6 sets of events before mething THEN it wont go up high enough with that last turn to cure... but honestly I do ALL of my eventers that way.... are you entering MANY events without mething before the final one?

You could always meth at the end of every turn to get the horse "back on track", I dunno what else to say other than using a whole turn for it as was suggested. But I have never had to do this with my racers or any other "very hyper" event. :(

I have found that it is the best method for me as I do tend to enter a bunch of events usually 5+, even if I don't I do it anyways, to keep myself in the habit. Then the next time I enter in events, I train, turn, enter, etc. and repeat the process.

Yeah, I am not claiming that it's the wrong way, only a little confused as to why the other way wouldn't be working when it is how I keep mine methed... obviously either way can work, occasionally I still "check" mine using trials but they are always fully methed the way I do it so... dunno why it isn't working for the one horse... my guess would be that it has only been borderline very hyper for a long while and would need meth a few turns in a row to be able to do it the way she usually does.. that has actually happened to me before, I have just always been able to fix it before they sit to wait for events to run.

Don't worry, I know that your method works too, the proof is in our horses, lol. :D

Yep, got that right! :D

The other reason could be the diet the horse is on, I prefer a 35/15/35/15 diet on my horses that need to be very hyper (keeps them hyper longer), and a 50/10/40/0 on the very mellow guys (keeps them mellow).
