Conformation Help

Postby Lonewolf » Fri Mar 12, 2010 11:19 am

I decided that I wanted to try to find me a good confy horse. I love arabians so I started look at them first. I found this arabian.

According to the breed description she should be perfect. Her stats are the same, her build is the same, her height is the same. Everything is the same. What am I missing? She's getting a confy score of 43.

Trial looks like this:

Burn In The Fire™
halter : conformation

Breed Standards : too Intellegent (+ 5.8882 )
Breed Standards : not Showing Strength of breed (+ 0.4631 )
Breed Standards : Showing More Stamina than of breed (+ 4.653 )
Breed Standards : Showing More Speed than of breed (+ 2.0453 )
Breed Standards : not Showing Personality of breed (+ 5.8109 )
Breed Standards : Showing larger Build than of breed (+ 0.053699999999999 )
Total Breed Similarity Penalty score: 43.9142

The breed description is a general guide.. For instance, good could mean anything from 60 to 70, but for conformation scoring, it might need to be 67.543.

When you look at your score, you can see exactly where she's off. She's almost 6 points too smart, half a point not strong enough, endurance is 4.653 too high, etc. Her build (height and build) is just about as close to perfect as you can get, but that's the only stat that is.

If conformation was so easy that any horse fitting the breed description could win, there would be a lot more people doing it and it wouldn't be nearly so much rewarding when you do get a winner. You've got a good broodmare to start breeding confy horses and with some luck, you might get one within a couple generations.

Ok, thanks. I was thinking thats what all the numbers might mean but I wasn't sure. So to get the true perfect score, I subtract or add the current stat from the number given for that stat by the trial. So the true perfect arab confy horse would be:

Strength: 66.6431
Intelligence: 65.1118
Speed: 72.6947
Endurance: 92.237

I think it would be absolutely impossible to get a perfect confy horse anywhere

Yes Lonewolf and I don't think it's impossible, just very hard to do and not likely to happen. There's several out there that are pretty darn close.

I know, but I'm saying that that's the dream confy horse (at least if you want an Arab.) What is the "right" personality for an Arab? It seems like spirited would be it but it's telling me it's not. Does anyone know?

Personality has a range, just like the other stats. It may be spirited, just high spirited while yours is low and there's no way to tell except to watch while breeding where the personality is going.

This is why I wanna be a Bama prentice. :P

Can't find any help with confy and it's the only thing I haven't gotten myself into so the attraction has become sooooo strong.

(lol, Bama-prentice... get it? I shouldn't speak to ANYONE after I take cold medicine... sorry).
