Breeding to Money Earners?

Postby white_horse_lover » Thu Sep 23, 2010 6:42 pm

I was wondering what exactly breeding to a money earner does for you. I was always under the impression that a rolled horse was the way to go, but I continue to see these money earner breeding auctions going for extreme amounts. Does it actually create a better foal?

Stat wise on foals, breeding to money winners doesn't create better foals per say. Actually, in my experiences, it tends to mean foals under BC.

The reason why people like to breed to money winners is for the value of the lines. The more money, easy to find in the lines, the higher the perceived value of the foal.

no, it's mostly just for the fun of collecting nice lines I think... personally mine are rolled after they event anyway because, while I like high earning parents, I want BC foals as well.

But I mean, it's the same as wanting a pure line... a horse being pure doesn't mean it will event better, it's just that some people like to see pure lines... well, same thing with the money earners.

I mean, yeah, some people seem to think it effects foals, but, from my own experience with my own horses either one is just to please the owner.. some people concentrate really hard on non inbred pure lines, some people like to 'collect' famous bloodlines... and some people who are really ambitious have started trying to do both in one line. lol. :)

What does breeding to a money-earner do for you? Drains your pockets, that's what it does. ;)
