Eventing Question?

Postby white_horse_lover » Sun Aug 22, 2010 7:54 pm

I had a quick question about eventing, I tend to only event 4 and actually wait until they are ran before I event the horse any further. Obviously, I miss out on quite a bit of competition. Is it a good idea to enter 4, train, take turn, enter 4, ETC..? I would think that entering 4, and then training would effect the outcome of that turns events.

 Just reading this is confusing me, so hopefully someone understands what I'm trying to ask.

Events are judged on the horse's stats at the time the event is ran, so generally, turning and training as much as possible before an event runs, while still eventing each turn is considered the best thing to do.

Thanks for the information :)! I wasn't sure if it was from that turn, or from when the event was ran.

That leads me to another question, since it is determined from when the event was ran. If I say enter an event at age 8 and my intel is at 205, and then I train to 8.45 and my intel is now 207... will the first event I entered count the intel at 207? Or does it just check the health, and such?

If the stat is 207 when the event runs, that is what it is judged on. If you entered the event when the stat was 100, it would still judge the stat at 207 because that's what it is at the time the event is run.

Huh, ok that's interesting. I figured it wouldn't, couldn't people start a horse at age 6.. and then age the horse till say 9 with training and win all of the events in the younger groups because their stats were much higher?

They could enter, but the penalty for being overage would insure they couldn't win.. if they were entering age restricted events. If they aren't entering age restricted, they might win.

yeah, I recently trained a pretty decent track racer... entered in all under 5 events... she was done at 5, but I accidentally aged her once, so just over 5... because she wasn't WAY over the right age and because she was nicely trained she still won a little bit of money... but the over age penalty definitely hit us and kept her from winning the millions she would have otherwise... and from my understanding the more over age they are for an event the 'heavier' the penalty... so, like bama said, it would be possible in open age events, but you would harm your horses chances of winning anything if you aged it over the max age of the events it was entered in.

as much as it stinks that I accidentally over aged that horse, lol, I am honestly thrilled to see the penalty working because it means that no one can intentionally try to win by aging horses over the max age of an event. :D
