On Track is a “rescue” (loosely used) created with the intent to purchase those “less than satisfactory” horses from the Marketplace and train them so they become “extraordinary.” (You were expecting satisfactory weren’t ya?) This means that any horses taken in by On Track are retrained to be eventers, while On Track does not sterilize or geld any of their horses they are not trained with the intent to be used as breeders.
Because of the setup of Duke Ranch (creator ranch) On Track predominantly offers Sport & Stock type horses. Sorry those of you looking for the other types (they are available, just not as frequently as the other two). While On Track discriminates against type, it does not when it comes to breed, so expect a wide variety of beasties. So let’s see so far, you’ve got limited breed type but open breed choice – what else? Because the purpose of On Track is to take “less than satisfactory” horses and spruce them up, it’s unlikely you’ll find a BC or close to BC horse. These guys will be anywhere from 4 to 6 off BC, hence why we do not promote just breeding these guys. On Track also limits the max age it will take, while On Track does not turn away any Sport & Stock type horse (or others), it only trains foals under 2yrs of age. Why? Well some of these horses just don’t turn out too well when they start to really get up there. Got it all? On Track would also like to note: all horse's stats may be considerably lower than that of a BC foal started at .01yrs. I’m good, but I’m not THAT good enough to give them 2yrs of training back they missed. On Track would also like to note that it is weird and only buys named horses.
Who is Eligible?
Anyone! Novice & Sponsor alike are welcomed to “adopt” any horse offered by On Track, as Novices can event just as well as Sponsors (if not better sometimes!).
