This is my main ranch where I breed Akhal-Tekes to the lowest possible conformation scores. Most of the Akhal-Tekes on the market when I began this project were either of medium build or slim build. I created my own line of very slender Akhal-Tekes with the proper temperament and set to work with an eye on their stats. Many generations of line breeding has brought the average conformation score of my horses well under thirty.

Most of my higher statted horses are at my breeding account or my other training account, as are most of my holiday dyed horses. Many are available either as studs or leasable broodmares. None of the horses on this account will be for sale or stud unless under very specific arrangement.

Akhal-Tekes

The Akhal-Teke is an ancient breed of horses thousands of years old, one of the oldest horse breeds still extant. According to the MAAK website, Professor Witt says the Akhal-Teke horse "possesses the last drop of that valuable blood from which all the breeds of well-bred horses have been developed." Even Arabians, often thought of as the beginning for so many owe a debt to these swift, enduring horses.

Although from an area that now encompasses areas of Turkey, Russia, and Afghanistan, these are no scrubby desert or steppe ponies. The slim, clean lines are "strikingly beautiful in appearance," as the Roman historian Oppian wrote. He went on to say, "They move lightly under the rider and lightly accept the bit; the head with its Roman nose is carried high and their golden manes flow majestically in the wind."

Their hide glints with a metallic sheen thanks to a little understood quirk of genetics.
