KINGSBRIDGE FARMS

Welcome

It all started in April 2014. After purchasing Silver Birch Ranch and bankrupting quickly by making the classic novice mistakes of investing in too many horses, breeding too young, and eventing poorly trained horses, we began again. We purchased 500 acres of picturesque farmland within a scenic part of Canada called the Muskoka Region. Located 1 1/2 hours north of Toronto, it is a vast district of shimmering lakes, crashing waterfalls and sheer granite cliffs. We are surrounded by aromatic pines and old maple forests that turn crimson and gold every September. Pristine pastures and pure clean air provide the perfect environment for raising horses, and it is here that we have built our world-class facility.

Today, Kingsbridge Farms boasts four barns, each fitted with individual wash and grooming stalls, separate feed and tack rooms, and oversized stalls. Our property is equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, including a covered six-horse walker and treadmill, as well as an outdoor sand track, dozens of large grass and sand paddocks, and several kilometres of manicured trails. The farm also lays claim to an amazing 300 x 110 outdoor sand ring and a massive 260 x 60 heated indoor arena with private viewing gallery. As the flagship farm of our international breeding, training, and showing program, it remains an ever evolving work-in-progress. Our subsidiary farms and equestrian facilities allow us to concentrate expertise and expand globally in our quest to produce the finest horses in the world.

About our owner

I grew up in the ranch lands of Alberta, Canada. I was riding by age 2, and working as a wrangler by high school. College summers were spent on the rodeo circuit and during the school year I taught 4H clinics in Western riding. After graduating from college I trained in stable management and spent time at an internationally acclaimed show jumping facility. I moved to Washington State to become adept at riding dressage and to gain experience in breeding and management. I then moved back to Canada to become the Executive Director of a large equestrian facility.

It was a chance encounter while I was guiding a horseback trip in the Rockies for troubled inner-city youth that led to a career opportunity away from horses, a return to school to obtain a Master's degree, and then marriage and children. Now after being away from horses for the past 15 years I have reconnected with the passion of my younger days because my daughter is turning out to be a natural rider with an amazing seat and a real connection with horses. I experience so much joy as I spend time with her at the stable she trains. Somehow I stumbled on this game and it is my little fantasy world of "what if I hadn't changed careers?" Although extensive international travel is a requirement of my job, this game goes with me and provides some relaxation and stress relief, and a chance to connect with those that share my passion for all things equine.

Training Services

If you wish us to train for you, please send a contract to our training ranch. We train for the public on a very limited basis. For the best results, begin with a Kingsbridge foal from our breeding ranch or holding farm.

Personal Breeds

Our first personal breed was recently purchased. Descendant of Hickstead is a custom show jumping breed named after one of the most incredible jumping horses ever to compete. Canada's Eric Lamaze rode this horse at an elite level before Hickstead's tragic death during an international competition. We are just beginning to develop the breed, but we are excited about it's potential and the first couple of horses are proving able to compete alongside the best VHR has to offer.

Top earners

Although we have trained and shown horses in many disciplines, we tend to concentrate on dressage, show jumping, and three day eventing. We also breed elite western and sport horses, but have only dabbled in track racing and endurance with some success. Although our breeding ranch produces some of the finest horses in the game, we spend most of our time playing with our show stable. Because we have only been playing a year, and because the VHR economy and purses are not what they were in the past, our horses have earned modest amounts of cash, but although we are not yet at the level of VHR's elite players, we are consistently in the money!
