All events have several different factors (or the artificial genes that VHR gave them) that effect your horses performance. Here are to factors that would be very important in every event:

  • Condition (health)
  • Energy (subject to change)
Easy solution to make sure your horse is at good health and energy is :
  • keep competing horses in the stable (not pasture) so they are groomed, clean, well fed, and rested.
  • Read the first chapter in Training 101 on energy.
    Barrel Racing (western training)
This is a class in which horses compete individually around 3 barrels in an arena in which they are timed. If the barrel is knocked over, the horse is penalized. More information on this Sport

    Bucking Bronco! (bronco)
Horses in which you enter in rodeo's broncing competitions will be known and judged for how fast they can buck off the rider! Now the riders are competing to see how long they can stay on. When player skills are implimented in the game, you can imagine how this would be fun :)

    Cutting & Penning! (western)
Horses are judged by how fast they can select certain marked(ribbon) cows among a herd in an arena and heard them in to the pen. As soon as they select one cow, the other 2 cows must have a matching mark(ribbon) on it. They are judged on how fast they can heard in three matching cows.

    Dressage (dressage)
Horses are judged in a set pattern in an arena and depending their level, the pattern asks different movements of them. They are judged on how well they communicate with the rider, behave in the arena, and perform. Dressage actually means to 'dance' And to exhibit in dressage is indeed to dance with your horse! Driving (driving)
Driving is made of up three driving disciplines. Dressage Driving, Marathon Driving and Obstacle Driving. Entrants can drive either ponies, horse or light draft, rarely heavy draft horses are used. Horses are shown as singles, pairs, tandems, or as a four in hand. Currently VHR driving is a combination of all three. Soon there will be more classes.

    Endurance Racing (endurance)
This is not track racing!! Endurance racing is a cross country(or mountains in some races!) race that is over the course of several miles. Horses are judged on thier condition with several vet checks along the way and at the end. Condition score is added as a penalty score on top of the time. A horses speed does not effect the race much unless it is head-to-head at the end, then it can give the horse that extra advantage. But of course it must have the stamina at the end to run at all!

    Racking Show:Gaited pleasure (gaited)
Ah finally an event for those pretty pasofinos and fancy saddlebreds! Horses in these events are disciplined to "Show Off!" and strut their fancy gaits, which include various steps: Also known as Racking!

    Halter:Conformation Class (halter)
Conformation classes are the most unique type of event in VHR. Conformation classes can be considered the Expert Opinion on how close your horse relates to its breed. This does not mean that horses with 'supurb' stats will nessesarily do better, unless its breed is naturally talented in that area.

    Halter:Showmanship Class (halter)
Showmanship classes are not as stict as the Conformation class. It is judged on your horses training, its discipline, movement, and 'show off' potential.

    Harness Racing (racing)
Harness racing is the sport of standardbreds, unlike racing, VHR harness racing judges more on the horses training level and age is not a big factor.

    Training Ideas:
    Hunter Jumpers (jumping)
VHR Hunter/Jumper shows are judged more on the horses performance (clearance) over a jump course; and faults, refusals etc.. rather than Show jumping which includes the speed around the course too. Of course, there would be a maximum time that the horse has to complete the jump course over. Beyond that time would result in penalty score.

    Polo (sport)
Polo is a sport in which two teams compete to knock a ball in a goal with a puck: Somewhat like horseback hockey!

    Show Jumping (jumping)
Show jumping is an event based on The horses ability to complete a jump course (usually 8-16 jumps) in a large arena. The jumps are bright and fancy, some horses may think the jumps are shiny jumps out to eat them, so it is important to understand the training importance.

    SteepleChasing (racing)

    Track Racing (racing)
Track Racing is a bit different then most VHR sports as it is in real life too. Competition and track race lifespan is short. Horses who want to excell in track racing are usually bred for their speed, and race fastest between 2.5-6 years old. After this stage They can retire, continue racing but bit slower, or try out the other racing events: steeple chasing & harness racing.
The man who developed the track racing for VHR is a well known professor at UCLA in genetics as well as a real thoroughbred breeder/race horse owner. And in real life he works a lot with the two together. His playing name is Jamaika_returns or Jamaica or some sort and he is real tough competition :D
