Upgrades can take up to 3 business days to process, so most likely, you've not received the upgrade yet. Once you are upgraded, you can select your shield and brand on the management page under edit ranch.

Yes, you will get much better with time. It's about 3/4 experience, 1/4 ranch (your ranch needs all of the right skills, bonuses help too)

Okay, the bonuses that I would recommend for basic training are (in order of importance)

Tenacious Trainer
Longevity
Grace and Glory
Fit and Fearless
Rolling Rodeo
(Breed Type Bonus)
Magically Mighty
Speediest
Teh Smarts

And then one more of your choosing, maybe be another breed type bonus.

Skills:
Horsemanship
English Trainer
Sport Trainer
Vet
Farrier

Item Crafting is how you make items =3 Go to 'Skill' under 'Management'

Oh....okay thanks! How do I get skill in crafting items, if I can't make any? Like, where do I go to make them and what do I need to make them?

For Bridles, Saddles, Whips, and Harness you need leather
For Spurs and Bits you need iron
For Saddle Pads you need cloth.

To get skill you just practice making things. You can also use offline points; you get one point for every hour you are offline, 100 points max a skill.
