So, was this a risk I took...?

Over a month ago, I won an auction for account leveling services from a player. They started on my novice account, but stopped less than half way through. After weeks of giving me the run around and setting flimsy dates to finish by, the player has since disappeared. I sent a message saying that I have been patient considering they already took payment despite leaving the job half done for over a month.

A week later, I get a response to that message:

Sorry. She had 2 get off and I need 2 know what she did. Soo... what did she do?

My response was (in assumption that it was a Mod responding):

I paid for winning her leveling auction. It should be in the auction archives. She was supposed to level off my Novice account.

I tried to go back through the Auction forum, but it stops just a week or so after their auction was held so I cannot find the thread (lesson learned - screenshot!)

I'm concerned about the legitimacy of this "new" person and whether I accepted an inherent risk in participating in their auction. Do I eat the cost, or is this something I can have an Op look into? I will send a ticket into Orbis Worlds if that is the necessary measure for this problem.

Just curious. Thanks. :)

What mod uses 2 when they are speaking?

I'd ask someone to look into it definitely but there is likely nothing to be done about it since sharing accounts is your own deal and they can't really enforce anything that goes wrong in those cases. :(

My thoughts exactly. But, there's times when I'm chin deep in a PB&J when I get lazy with the keys, too. So I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt.

The latter point was what I was afraid of. If I have to eat the $15mil or so, so be it, I just thought I should at least try.

This is the first and LAST time I'll be doing a deal like that. Ugh. =/

You are welcome to put in a ticket and we can look into it. However, as Swar said, since we don't condone sharing accounts for any reason and unless you have proof, such as screenshot of the auction or private messages concerning the transaction, there's probably not a lot we can do about it. However, you never know. If it's someone who's been in trouble before or currently, it might look differently.

For future reference, Ops will never contact from any account but our own. We don't have access to other peoples' accounts, as in we cannot access login information (Only Nef has that information). And most of us run like hell when a player tries to give it to us LOL We want no part of getting on other players' accounts.

On the last note, Bama, that's exactly what I thought after I let it sink in. I was a bit taken aback by the response and responded immediately.

Unfortunately, I don't have screenshots of anything. Like I said, lesson learned. Even if I could pull up the auction page, that's just showing I WON the auction, not that I actually paid.

So (*sigh*) I'll be eating that most likely. Unless something miraculous happens. I won't bother the Powers That Be at Orbis over this. Valuable lesson learned. $15mil? Small price to pay.

Thanks for clearing up my confusion/concern. :)
