I am sorry if this is a moot point, but something happened today that made me feel quite guilty and a bit bad.
So I thought I would ask generally what the site policy is as things like this aren't in the FAQ as new breeds are so well *new*
What happens when your new breed actually has the same name or similar to someones previous goodie dye?
I am not niave enough or selfish enough to think that "Hah my $95 dollars trumps your $9 dollars so there"
And in case New Breeds and Goodie colours are going to be kept as mutually unique I did check the list on the foum.
There was listed a Phantom Of The Opera colour however the horse originally dyed owner hasn't been on since 2005 so I thought maybe I wll be safe.
Just in case I was turned down though I didn't change layouts or make pics till I got my horses figuring that Nef wouldn't let me have them if there was a problem.
However today I got a message, and not a nasty one saying how they liked my new breed and they have the only Phantom Of The Opera coloured horse on the server and would I be dyeing mine.
I informed them I wouldn't be dyeing them as the colour was already taken, and that as far as I knew there were 2 horses of that colour.
However there are two colours
"Phantom of the Opera" and "The Phantom of the Opera" I looked for the first but the second one I didn't so unfortunatley I have stepped unbeknowst on someones toes.
I have noticed that on some private breeds comments have been made about going to Nef and asking for a change as a breed has the same name as a colour.
I don't wish to cause trouble for Nef and I certainly did not mean to step on anyones toes.
What is going to happen with breeds and colours, Are we new breed owners really devaluing/decreasing rarities of colours by having breeds that share names.
Or are the two just different, is colour rarity not affected by a breed name. This message I got was upbeat and chatty and not offensive at all, however I feel we need clarification because it's only a matter of time before some New Breed owner or Nef for that matter gets hassle for copying someones colour too closely with a New Breed.
Sorry if this blathers on too much, I think in my own ways it's a bit of an out pouring of guilt as I feel a bit crass for just stealing someones colour idea.
Thanks in advance for your time.
