What are probably newbie questions???

Have a technical question you can't find the answer to in FAQ's? Ask it here. Game problem questions that do NOT pertain to things like training advice, what would my horse do well in, how much is it worth.

What are probably newbie questions???

I have questions, as I have just bought my personal breed I am stat maxing them and roll prepping them as we speak. But something occurs, how old can I roll my stallions and mares to be able to improve their stats, but still make good use oit of my foundies to get a big enough crop of foals to carry on my breed.

I don't want to make any stupid mistakes that limit my gene pool at all :D

If you draw semen, you can roll the stud to 33, which would produce the best foals. If you don't wish to draw semen, I would roll to 22 or so, as studs become unbreedable at 23.

Drawing semen allows for 20 foals per stallion, which, IMO, is plenty.

I personally, don't roll to 33. >.> I've been rolling my foundie studs to 22.9, and my mares to 17.75, then I get 2 foals from each stallion and mare (16 altogether) and from that, I keep eight foals. =)

Yep, 20 foals per stud is pretty fine :D I usually leave my mares with 10 foals (rolled to 18.4), regardless of her breed or lineage.
Well that was random. - Toph

Thanks so much for all your replies :o)
I appreciate it, was so worried that I would roll my poor horses too far and then not get enough foals from them to get a big enough gene pool.

Mythara you only keep the eight best foals?, thats a really good idea as I was thinking 16 foals, thats a lot of rolling lol :o).

I assume that you retire the others, or release them??, or do you just breed eight foals from your foundies.

Thanks again

I breed 16 foals and release the rest. I've been keeping one female foal from each mare, and one male foal from each stud (if that makes sense) as well as one foal of each colour my foundations started with. Hopefully that makes sense. o.O If you have a look through my Each Uisge in my brag thread, hopefully you'll see what I mean, lol.

I pretty much do that. I never roll my foundy studs to 33. Just in case I need something from that bloodline later. My foundy mares I breed out to 23 and just keep a limited number of the best foals. I might breed 40 or 50 foals from that foundy stud and only keep a dozen so I need him under 23. My 1st gen studs I do roll to 33 if I need to though, since I can always get more :) Personal preference I suppose.

I always roll to 33 because I have a stud bonus where the studs' genes affect the foals stats more than the mares, so therefore I need to get his stats higher and make use of being able to roll to 33 :)

But beware, draw the straws and store in the freezer before age 23, because Nef may change it in the future so it can only be done that way, as it should have been in the first place XD.

I do, however, keep my best statted studs at 24.9 (bonuses again, allowing me to breed at 25 XD) so I can still breed them normally and get more foalies out of them :)

It is personal preference, as has been stated.
