New player, event question

Why the heck does it say the run time and then take like a week or more to actually finish? It's annoying me. I have been waiting for events to finish, and I bet on one, then another. The second one was over and I got my money in a couple days. The first one STILL is uncomplete! I was waiting for the event before I did anything else with my horses, so I've got like 200 turns waiting on the stupid thing.

Because the people who created the events run them. Events need 10 horses to be able to be run, and some folk like to wait until more are entered, so they can get more event fees from them. If an event is over 4 days, most ops will run them.

Well, events can't be run by players until at least 10 horses have entered. If 10 horses don't enter, it has to be run by game operators. They can only be run by Ops after the event is at -5 days, when they have time and when there aren't too many players online. Sometimes, this adds an additional day or two to the count.

Many players let events run past the 24 hours, even if full because it's a way to make money. The more horses that enter, the more money the sponsor gets in return.

Hope this helps explain a bit more

Oh, really? That seems like it'd take a lot more time than it should, but it makes sense. Normally the games I play run shows/events at 12 am each day whether or not the owner says anything. I guess I could get used to that. I'll just have to join more crowded events. heh...
