I've only just realised; but I'm on 100% full and have been for quite some time. I have literally got hundreds of private messages. And yet I'm 100% full? Is this some kind of error?

I mean, wooh, I've been sending and receiving messages quite happily and innocently for ages but I don't want to leech expensive storage space.

It deletes the older ones when you get new ones. =)
