I have two quad extro event horses. They're maxxed and leveled. They're doing horrible. You think a quad horse that is the right breed type would win their events.

well there are other factors to, like in some events age is a big one and in dressage disposition and conformation is counted to, and often a horse can be Quad but maybee only 1 or 2 stats are important while level disciplin and surefoot/Movement play a larger role and some horses got 202 in movement and some got 204 so it can vary, plus there is plain simple luck and bad days...

although some are a tad screwed up

That is how my two are. It is amazing me on what is beating them. They're 9-10 y/o so I know being too old isn't a factor.

Some of the bigger events, like 3-day eventing and jumping seem to be quite random - my horses will have a run of 8s and 9s, then they'll have a winning streak, then they'll go back to losing. :?

Don't forget that horses can also be too young for an event. In many events, the optimum age is around 13, so 9-10 year olds probably won't be beating the more experienced, higher trained horses who are closer to the optimum age.
