Completely confused......TRIALS HELP

Postby BindiCo » Wed Jan 23, 2008 5:50 pm

Ok,

I have been on VHR for awhile now....BUT I still have not figured out how to read the TRIALS , so that I can place my horses in the appropriate events.

EXAMPLE: By looking at all 3 of these trials....what things from them makes one decide what the horse would be best at?? And WHY?? This is what is REALLY confusing me.If someone could help me by dissecting the sheet and explaining what everything means, and WHY...as well as how to tell what event would be best for the horse...I would be SOOOOOOOOOOOO GRATEFUL!!

I will get down on my knees and kiss your feet!! :boogie: :pop:

OK..so...here's a horse in 3 seperate TRIALS.......

Dun Prix Resort presents : Trial Events
Trial Events allow an owner to see an actual report card of reasons of how & why a horse performed the way they did. Cash prize is given to the owner and added on to horses earnings depending on how they performed in the trial events to horses with scores of under 350.

Sill types necessary to excel
in this event approxomate amount event
is judged on
western 40 % (current level: 0/1500)
discipline 14 %
Stats that are important Approxomate Level of importance** (.el. Eyes Wide Open's score***)

speed 0 % (0)
endurance 0 % (0)
intellegence 0 % (0)
Hyperness -5 % (-550.015)
other natural stats (sometimes slightly effect score)
Age Range for bonus* Minimum - Optimum - Maximum
*Bonus will start to rise at
minimum and fall at maximum 8 -17.5 - 27
Breed types excelling in this event Main: stock & Small bonus: gaited
** The percentage represents the approxomate amount of the total score that the stat is included in. a 0 would mean that it does not judge off that stat at all, and a 10% would mean its fairly important... where if it were 100% in strength, it would just be the strongest horse competition.

*** The Horses score number, the higher the better, of course- the higher the percent the more you will have here. The information is not as important as understanding that, for example, the strength at 10% means that around 10% of the event score is judged on strength.

Trials only really work on horses already fully trained. Or if you are interested to see which stats are important for certain events. Or finding out a confo score.

For instance:

western 40 % (current level: 0/1500) <- Level is veryimportant
discipline 14 % <-Discipline is very important

surefoot 14 % (704.62) <- Surefoot is very important
movement 14 % (462.84) <- Movement is very important
strength 6 % (219.8367) <- Strength is important
speed 0 % (0) <- Not important
endurance 0 % (0) <- Not important
intellegence 0 % (0) <- Not important
Hyperness -5 % (-550.015) <- Needs to be very mellow

Anything with a 0% doesn't have to be maxx :D

Trial events also help to know what the bonus age range is :D

The problem with trial events, is that they don't really line up with the real events. They only really help you to know what stats are important.

Anyway, thats how I read the events x3

To figure out what a horse would go best in, I look at its breed type, and birth stats :D

Here is two examples:
http://www.virtualhorseranch.com/viewho ... se=1447074 <- TB colt

Stats:
Fantastic (94.15) <- Very nice Strength
Very Good (80.08)
Inconceivable (118.37) <- Very nice Speed
Extraordinary (96.52)

This is about the highest stats a TB can be born with. Because of his speed and strength stats, this horse could make a very nice Racer (high speed) and eventually a really nice Jumper (high Strength). Or I could train him in Foxhunting (needs ideally both high speed and strength).

http://www.virtualhorseranch.com/viewho ... se=1350934 <- Grade AAA Stock colt

Stats:
Amazing (109.06) <- Really nice Strength
Extraordinary (97.85) <- Nice Intell
Amazing (108.87) <- Really nice Speed
Extraordinary (97.09)

Because of this colt's high Speed, and high Strength, I would aim him towards Barrels.
However, because he still has a nice Intell, he might do well in Reining or Trail (which also requires his high strength).

Does this make any sense? This is how I figure it out

As Jelly said, you don't really use trials to work out what to event your horse in, unless you're doing confo. The trials are really for after you've trained the horse, to see how well it's stats match up and what sort of score it'll get.

A warmblood with high intel and strength would be perfect for dressage, a stock horse with good strength and speed for barrels, but a stock horse with good strength and intel for reining.

First find all the disciplines that a horse of your breed type will do well with. The look at the highest stat titles and choose the one that matches up. =)
