Paying for Sponsor Accounts

Postby Galadriel Fefalas » Tue Jan 10, 2006 6:40 am

There's continually posts and fighting about how much it costs for a Sponsor Account and how many people can't afford $30 for one. When you break it down it works out at $2.50 a month, so would it be possible to have a system where people can pay monthly ($2.50), quarterly($7.50), or twice a year ($15.00) and well as the annual ($30.00) option?

I like the idea, although I'd still be buying annually. xD It's ideal for those just looking to play in the summer, a school break, etc. :D

or for those of us who can't play in the summer :) Or if someone wants to try and see if a sponsor is really better. Of course they'll get hooked and want it forever. Trials are a solid marketing strategy *Go Education!*

I think there's a minimum transaction amount on Paypal ($3?) - certainly, if you pay less than a certain amount, then a large proportion of it gets taken away in Paypal transfer fees.

Plus, since Nef always seems to be stressed for money (must have an expensive server, with all the custom colors coming in!) I think it would hit her pretty hard to lose the money for the in-between months. Maybe if it were a graduated system, where you get a better per-month deal the greater length of time your renewal is for? Then it could be more like $5 a month, $10 for 3 months, and $30 for the year, and she wouldn't lose so much money, plus it would give people incentive to buy the longer subscription.

I meant a pay in installments plan, not buy three months then leave ...

Yeah, it's a pretty good idea...and the customers would benefit from it alot. But, as previously stated, I can imagine how expensive it is for Nefertete to run this game with server fees, etc., and that losing that immediate $30 payment for would-be sponsors could hurt her income. Another issue is for foreign players; I know there are many players that aren't American, and so can't pay that fee in USD, thus can't get a sponsor account at all...regardless on the method of payment....

Yeth--I'm Australian and I want a sponsor just as much as anyone else does!

I totally agree with you--what if they were only planning to stick with it for half a year? If they know their computer days are limited, that they can get banned at any time, paying in smaller bursts of sponsor would definetly help. Lol. Me agrees!!!!
Well that was random. - Toph

I totally agree I have to pay 150 dollars a month so I can't afford to spend 30 dollars every year!

That's not wholly true.

Paypal translates the money for you - you pay in your local currency, the appropriate amount that equals $29.95USD at the time.

So, even if my bank account is measured in British pounds sterling, I can still use Paypal to pay for a sponsor account.
