Help With Dressage/Event Training?

Postby jero » Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:12 am

I have just a couple questions. Firstly, how do you decode all the information you're given when you enter a horse in a "trial" competition? I would like to use this feature to judge how well my horses would do in a competition, but when the results are displayed I don't entirely understand which numbers are important in comparing to the winners of competitions.

Along that same line - and if I am deciphering the meaning of all the numbers correctly - what would be a "good" or "competitive" total/overall dressage score?

I am trying to figure out if my mare would be competitive whatsoever in local dressage shows. Thanks for the help :)

That's a guide I wrote, which covers how to read the trial events. Apart from the percentages (how much that stat is worth), the numbers, times and scores given by trial events are meaningless when it comes to actual eventing.

My suggestion, to get an idea if your horse is competitive against the current competition in an event, is to compare your horse to those in events for that level (or events that have recently ran). If your horse stacks up with similar stats as the winners, good bet you'll make a bit of money and your horse will place a few times (if not more :D)

Thank you very much :) Your guide was really helpful.

We have two mares (we just created this account), and not very much money, as a result of purchasing the horses. I am hoping we didn't make bad investments :p I'm still not sure whether either of them will excel in competition (obviously with a bit more training). I am including the link to my stable, and would greatly appreciate if you could check the horses out and tell me if I might have any luck showing them in the future. Right now we are headed in the direction of Dressage for both mares, but if they would be better suited to something else we can change their type. Thanks!
