Question for Driving & Halter Eventers

Postby Rev » Mon Jan 05, 2009 5:53 pm

So I'm getting a second sponsor, and I'm going to put the Mighty & Mountless bonus on it. I haven't evented a Driver in a long time (and even then not fully), and I've never evented a Halter horse. So, I have a question. Around what age would you go about eventing these two?

Also, what breed would you recommend for Halter? I have my eye on Lippis, but I'm happy to take suggestions from people who know the event much better than I. =)

Thanks!

For Halter, I use mostly Grade Show AAAs, but Freisians, Warlanders and Lippy's usually dominate. They need to have a high strength stat and a high endy stat. (Endy is worth the most in Halter)

I start entering in events early while training, and I then let them sit at whenever I finish their training (Usually 6, but occasionally 6.5). I have them all methed up though, while they sit. I don't know when to stop eventing, as I haven't gotten that far yet, but my 24mill+ winner is still going strong at 9, which is one year over optimum. I have seen them winning at 12-13, if they wern't switched over to dressage.

So you let them sit waiting for events to run at 6-6.5?

Thanks ^_^ And congrats on your winner =D
