How does someone like me make money?

There are many ways to get horses. You can go to the Marketplace: http://www.virtualhorseranch.com/marketplace.php enter in the information you want in looking for a horse, and buy the one you want; Auctions: http://www.virtualhorseranch.com/auctions/auctions.php you bid on horses and after a certain number of days has passed, the high bidder gets the horse; search the Horses for Sale and Prospective Sale area: viewforum.php?f=3 and just bid whatever the selling price is on the horse and wait for the person to accept it.

Awesome- you can usually get very nice horses there.

Take a look at some of the help sections in the forums here- they are extremely helpful (what kind of stats to look for, what lines are popular, where the money is, etc)
