Galilean Luna Equus
Description Galileo Galilei was, among many things, an astronomer of the Renaissance and is accredited as "the father of observational astronomy." It was on November 30, 1609, that Galileo aimed his telescope at the Moon and began his topographical charting of its lunar mountains and craters. In doing so, he unknowingly documented the terrain inhabited by the Galilean Luna Equus. These gentle giants shine so luminously they often appear to be spun from pure moonlight and as such, are the reason the full moon is the brightest celestial object of our night sky.
